Annual Devilette Craft Bazaar

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville High School Devilette Holiday Craft Bazaar is now being named the Paulette Young Holiday Bazaar to honor the many years of dedication she provided for generations of Devilette dancers.
The event has become an annual tradition that helps fund the Zanesville High School Devilette dance team and will take place Saturday from 9 to 3 at the Secrest Auditorium. It will feature 84 vendor tables, lunch, raffles and more.
“So the Devilettes, they were founded back in 1966 I believe. Yes, by Mr. Wayne Carpenter. They are a dance, drill team. We have grown tremendously over the last 4 or 5 years. This year, we started off with 48 girls. We’re hoping to continue growing,” Devilette Bazaar Assistant Director Jessica McLendon said.
The Bazaar began back in the early 1980s at the Euclid Avenue Church with 15 tables and continues to serve as a major fundraiser for an extracurricular program that accrues plenty of expenses.
“I think the perks of being a Devilette is learning how to become a dancer, finding friendship. We have girls who have never done dance in their lives and others that have danced since they were babies. We do go to competitions now every year and then also we take junior and senior trips to New York City to see the Rockettes. So those are some of the fun things that the girls get to enjoy being a Devilette,” Devilette Bazaar Head Director LaMia Mayle said.
Vendors will be selling a wide range of crafts, clothing, scentsy’s and baked goods with many of those items up for raffle. The kitchen crew will be serving vegetable soup, hot dogs, taco in a bag, loaded nachos and pies for dessert.
