ZANESVILLE, Ohio – How much does the security of our nation really matter and how can we thank those who have served to protect us?

Those are questions that have been asked and are being answered by a local home service provider that gives a furnace to a select active-duty, veteran or surviving spouse of a military branch member, who has been nominated by friends, family or neighbors.

“Our president of the company Russ Ables wanted to start something for veterans. So we started this about 7-years-ago. You know, giving one veteran every year a furnace that needed a new heating system. So we started with that and worked our way up to now, where we do two winners every year,” Ables Heating and Cooling Vice President of Construction Operations Josh Ables said.

You can submit your nomination application by visiting heatforourheroes.com and filling out the form before October 17th. You can stop by Ables, located at 3370 East Pike in Zanesville and fill it out in person or have someone at your VFW or American Legion walk you through the online process.

“Along with just giving two deserving veterans a furnace, we will… we do several different service calls and repairs, maintenances, general upkeep if need be. I think it’s amazing to give back to those who sacrificed everything. Honestly, I wish we could do more. People tell me all the time, when I go to meet people that are like, we chose you because of this,” Ables Heating and Cooling Residential HVAC Salesman Justin Tyo said.

Following the October 17th, application deadline, each nominee will be verified to determine whose qualifications best fit before the winners will be announced on Veterans Day, November 11th.
