Annual Kids Summer Party Returns with Free Food, Games and School Supplies

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The 4th Annual Kids Summer Party is happening this Saturday from noon to four, hosted at the Zanesville VFW.

This year focuses on Back to School. The event will feature free food, face painting, prizes, and back-to-school bags for 500 kids.

“We never imagined it being this big. We started out with 178 kids; we topped out at 450 last year,” banquet hall coordinator Shaila Worden said. The idea stemmed from giving back to the kids that don’t get to do much for summer…go to the lake, go to a community pool, go on vacation. That’s where it stems from,” Worden added.

Organizers say their main goal is to give back to the community and continue making a difference in the lives of local youth.  

The Zanesville VFW is located on Putnam Avenue and while the event is free, registration is required; those without registration will not be able to attend.
