Bills’ Hamlin in critical condition after collapse on field

CINCINNATI (AP) — Buffalo defensive back Damar Hamlin was in critical condition early Tuesday after the Bills say his heart stopped following a tackle during the Monday Night Football game, which was indefinitely postponed. Hamlin collapsed on the field during the first quarter of the nationally televised game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was given medical treatment for nearly 20 minutes before being taken to a hospital. The Bills said in a statement: “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

EXPLAINER: What happened to Damar Hamlin?

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after making a tackle during Monday night’s game, causing the NFL to suspend a pivotal game against the Cincinnati Bengals that quickly lost significance in the aftermath of a scary scene that unfolded in front of a national television audience. The 24-year-old Hamlin was administered CPR on the field, ESPN reported during the broadcast. Teammates surrounded Hamlin, shielding him from public view. Masters invitation goes to the wrong Scott Stallings

KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) — Scott Stallings received the best package of all for Christmas because it included an invitation to play in the Masters. One problem. It wasn’t delivered to the Scott Stallings who plays on the PGA Tour. The golfer says a Georgia man by the same name received the package and reached out to him on Instagram. The man says it didn’t take long to realize the invitation wasn’t meant for him. Stallings thinks the invitation was sent to his old management company and the man happened to live next door to the building. He says he’ll be sending the other Scott Stallings practice-round tickets for Augusta National.

Vrabel plays no games: Titans starting Dobbs at QB vs Jags

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Quarterback Joshua Dobbs will make a second straight start Saturday night in Jacksonville with the Titans’ playoff hopes on the line despite being signed Dec. 21 off Detroit’s practice squad. Titans coach Mike Vrabel played no games Monday, announcing that Dobbs will start instead of rookie Malik Willis. The Titans (7-9) can win their third straight AFC South title with a victory. That would give them a home playoff game and snap a six-game skid. Dobbs is the Titans’ third different quarterback to start since their previous win Nov. 17 at Green Bay.
