Jones snags lateral on final play, Raiders stun Patriots

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Defensive end Chandler Jones grabbed a bizarre, unnecessary lateral by New England’s Jakobi Meyers out of the air on the final play and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown, giving the Las Vegas Raiders a 30-24 victory over the Patriots. With the game tied at 24-all, the Patriots decided to run a series of pitches in a last-ditch attempt to avoid overtime. Rhamondre Stevenson pitched the ball to Meyers, who heaved it across the field and into the arms of Jones. The pass-rusher stiff-armed Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and then had nothing but open field in front of him. The wild finish bailed out the Raiders, who led 17-3 at halftime before allowing the Patriots to score 21 straight points.

Jaguars intercept Prescott, stun Cowboys 40-34 in OT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Rayshawn Jenkins intercepted Dak Prescott’s tipped pass and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown that gave the Jacksonville Jaguars a 40-34 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in overtime. Tre Herndon got a hand on Prescott’s low throw to Noah Brown. Jenkins made a shoelace grab and went untouched the other way to end Jacksonville’s 20-game skid against NFC teams. Prescott sat on the field in disbelief as the Jaguars celebrated one of their more improbable wins in franchise history. The Cowboys (10-4) ended a five-game winning streak. The stunner prevented Dallas from securing a playoff spot. Jacksonville (6-8), meanwhile, gained ground on Tennessee in the topsy-turvy AFC South.

The severity of the injury was still being determined Sunday and that was keeping the team from forming a specific timetable for his return. That’s according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither Davis nor the Lakers had released any information publicly. Davis leads the Lakers with averages of 27.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Vijay Singh and his son can finally call themselves winners at the PNC Championship in their 16th appearance. Tiger Woods and 13-year-old son Charlie had to settle for having another great time. Qass Singh was 13 when he first played this event with his father. Now he’s 32. Qass hit a hybrid to 4 feet for eagle that paved the way for them to shoot 59 in a scramble format. They won by two over John Daly and his son and Justin Thomas and his father. Team Woods never got going and tied for eighth.

(AP) — Joe Burrow threw for four second-half touchdowns and the surging Cincinnati Bengals rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-23 for their sixth straight victory. The Bengals retained sole possession of first place in the AFC North, with Tre Flowers intercepting Brady to set up one touchdown and Logan Wilson sacking the seven-time Super Bowl champion to force a fumble that led to another TD. The first-place Bucs wasted an opportunity to take a two-game lead over Carolina, Atlanta and New Orleans, who all remain in contention for a division title in the NFC South despite being assured of finishing with losing records.

Ex-NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire charged with punching daughter

MIAMI (AP) — Former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire is facing a misdemeanor battery charge after police say he punched his teenage daughter in the face. Court records show the former Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks star was arrested early Sunday, and later released on $1,500 bond. The Miami Herald says he was arrested at his Miami home. A police report obtained by the paper says he punched the girl after he accused her of being disrespectful to his mother during a phone call. Stoudemire has a both a 14-year-old and 17-year-old daughter. The report did not say which he allegedly hit. No lawyer for Stoudemire is listed in court records.

Judge’s 62nd home run ball sells for $1.5 million at auction

RUNNEMEDE, N.J. (AP) — The ball New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit for his American League-record 62nd home run has sold for $1.5 million at auction. The price is the second highest paid for a baseball auction, according to Goldin Executive Chairman and Founder Ken Goldin. He identified the buyer as a prominent Midwestern businessman and collector. Bidding on the ball opened on Nov. 29 and ended Saturday. The minimum opening bid was set at $1 million. The home run ball was consigned to Goldin in November by Cory Youmans.
