Area Woman Faces Possible Arson Charges
A Stockport woman is facing possible arson charges.
According to Shane Cartmill with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, investigators have determined a fire at a garage at 6784 Ellis Road in Stockport was intentionally set on June 2nd.
Cartmill says an ongoing investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office led to the identification of a person believed responsible for the fire.
He says the 46 year old woman made statements implicating herself in the fire.
In addition to the garage, two vehicles parked outside also sustained significant damage.
No one was hurt in the fire.
Cartmill says the case will now go to the Morgan County Prosecutor to determine whether or not arson charges will be filed against the woman.
