Arrest Made in Double Homicide
Authorities announce arrest in connection to the double homicide and abduction investigation of Doyle and Lilian Chumney .
The Tuscarawas and Coshocton Sheriff’s Offices along with the Strasburg Police Department said the arrest came after authorities released a photo of an unknown van and individual Saturday morning.
The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office said that a citizen contacted their office after seeing the Facebook post concerning the photos and reported they thought they knew who the individual was.
After following up on the lead Orvis Campbell of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and Det. Tom Couts of the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office located a stolen item from the Chumney home and then arrested 21-year-old Jeffrey Craig Stewart on a New Philadelphia Municipal Court Warrant.
Authorities said that that Stewart was interviewed and made incriminating statements. Stewart did implicate a 29-year-old Robert R. Clark who’s now wanted for the charge of murder.
Authorities said Clark should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. He possesses a green mini van and is on the run. Authorities believe he’s as several firearms.
Stewart has been charged with murder through Coshocton Municipal Court.

Authorities said that 88-year-old Doyle Chumney and his 79-year-old wife Lillian were discovered in their burned car near Bakersville in Coshocton County after being reported missing January 21. The couple, from Strasburg, was reported missing by family members when they failed to show up to take their son to the airport. The couple’s daughter went to their home in Strasburg and found their vehicle missing and the home ransacked.
