Arrests Made By the Muskingum County / Zanesville City Joint Drug Unit and Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OH – The Muskingum County / Zanesville City Drug Unit and Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force have made several arrests in the month of July.

Two Somerset residents are currently in the Muskingum County Jail for multiple charges after members of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team took them into custody on July 30th in the 1300 block of Maysville Avenue.

“These arrests are the result of several months of investigation that began after members of the FBI received information in reference to individuals plotting to rob and kill local drug dealers here in Muskingum County and the City of Zanesville. Once receiving the information a joint investigation was conducted along with members of the Muskingum County and Zanesville City Drug Unit and Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force, throughout the investigation those involved plotted to murder and rob at least 2 drug dealers and rob an additional 2 drug dealers,” Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury said.

41 year old Michael Shane Siegenthal of Somerset and 49 year old Tami Siegenthal (Bailey) also of Somerset were arrested on 2 counts of conspiracy to commit murder, 4 counts of conspiracy to aggravated robbery, and 4 counts of conspiracy to aggravated burglary. If convicted on all charges they each face 3 to 86 years in prison.

Another investigation starting in early June led to the arrest of two Zanesville citizens on several drug related charges.

“The investigation into the residence started in early June after receiving complaints from concerned citizens in reference to drug activity at the residence. Members of the Muskingum County Joint Drug Unit, Zanesville Police Department, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, conducted surveillance on the residence and as a result of the investigation we were able to obtain a search warrant for this residence. During the investigation we were able to seize approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and almost $1,800 in US Currency, drug paraphernalia, and other packaging material,” Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said.

In this case 36 year old Justin Hampton of Zanesville and 41 year old Misty Schaeffer of Zanesville were arrested and are currently being held in the Muskingum County Jail on bond.
