Artist And Musician Of The Month Julie Goodall And Tongo Rad

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Artist Colony of Zanesville (ArtCOZ) announces Julie Goodall as Artist of the Month and the Tongo Rad group for the Musician of the Month.

Julie Goodall, Owner and Instructor of Julie’s Artery, said her favorite mediums are clay acrylic painting and calligraphy

She said her art teachers have always been her favorite when in school, which is what made her start her own art school in 2000.

“I very rarely make my own work to display. Usually it’s focus on student work, but I do enjoy occasionally coming over and especially now that we have a ceramics room open, throwing on the wheel making clay pieces and various painting I enjoy doing calligraphy,” Goodall stated. “But I don’t typically show my artwork so this is one of the first times in several years that’ll have things in the gallery that are mine.”

Julie’s Artery is located at 53 South 7th Street where residents can view her work along with a student schedule during the ‘First Friday Art Walk.’

Jay Wince, one of the members of Tongo Rad, explained their main focus of the band and what people can expect from the band.

“We do a mix of original and cover material. Most of the material that we cover is from the 60s or 70s and we kind of focus on vocal harmonies and melody, songs that most people know, but may not hear all the time so we kind of do some deep tracks instead of just the most popular tunes you’ve ever heard,” Wince said.

The Tongo Rad will not be present for the ‘First Friday Art Walk,’ but will be performing Saturday at the Weasel Boy Brewery from about 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

There will also be a free art walk shuttle this Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. provided by Rocker Bus Service that can take residents from Secrest Auditorium to Weasel Boy while stopping at each art gallery.

Kirsten Brown, President of Art COZ said they wanted to add this service for those who need transportation to get around downtown and in support of the new designated outdoor refreshment area, DORA, that way residents can also carry their drinks with them on the bus.
