Arthur Gene Harris (March 24, 1921 – January 29, 2016)

Arthur Gene Harris 94, of Zanesville passed away on Friday January 29, 2016 at the Oaks at Northpointe.
Gene was born in Zanesville on March 24, 1921 to the late Arthur and Mary Speed Harris. He was a retired Truck Driver having worked for Suburban Motor Freight for many years. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church , Layfayette Lodge F&AM, and proudly served our country in the US Army during WWII.

Gene is survived by a son Larry Harris of Dayton, a step daughter Jo-Lynn Torbert of Hanover, a step son Mike (Karole) Swain of Elyria, a sister Marilyn Harris of Zanesville, six grandchildren: Debbie Harris, Doug Harris, Debbie Weaver,Bart Swain, Rodd Torbert, and Todd Torbert, Five great grandchildren: Callie Collins, Cade Torbert, Zack Torbert, Max Torbert, Ashlee Torbert, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Violet Smith Harris and his second wife Verla Carr Swain Harris, two brothers Bernard Harris and Bill Harris and a sister Shirley Harris.
Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday February 2 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Marjorie McDaniel-Burnett officiating and Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.
