Artist joining the battle against human trafficking

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Mid-East Ohio Rescue and Restore Coalition and the Artist Colony of Zanesville have partnered up to raise awareness and money to fight against human trafficking.
Artists from the area have donated silent auction items for a fundraiser in February for Mid-East Ohio Rescue and Restore Coalition. ‘ArtCOZ‘ president Anne Marie Kovach said this is a way for local artists to give back to the community and to try and end human trafficking. She said there will also be 20 artist selling items at the fundraiser.
“They will all be donating a portion of their proceeds that night. So, the best way that we can ask the community to be involved is to come. You help support the local artist and then, in turn, the local artist support the fight against human trafficking,” said Kovach.
Mid-East Ohio Rescue and Restore Coalition event coordinator Janet Long said the event will not only raise money but will also increase awareness. The fundraiser will show human trafficking is not only a problem in the world but, a problem right here in Ohio.
“It’s education for the community and just bringing in survivor speakers who education. To make them aware that it really is going on in Zanesville and just that you need to be aware of your surroundings, what’s going on with people and just education,” said Long
The fundraiser will take place at Weasel Boy on Friday, February 9th from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M.
