Asia Benefits from Auction

A community gathers to give support to a young teen battling cancer.

Friends and family wore shirts with the "Asia Will" slogan on the back, in honor of the teen’s fight with lymphoma. For a time the auction barn was standing room only as many bid on baskets, dresses and even a horse.

"I bid on one from the Fieldhouse and one from Muskingum College," said Carlos Church. It’s going to a good cause. It’s a big crowd. I didn’t expect so many.

Even the 15-year-old herself had a hard time taking in the auction’s turnout that featured live entertainment.

"It’s been overwhelming. I don’t even know some of these people and they’re here supporting me," said Asia Hatfield.

And the event also gave the teen a chance to visit.

"I haven’t got to be with many people since I was diagnosed so its fun," said a smiling Hatfield.

As of 2pm Asia’s benefit at Roger’s Auction Barn had raised $10,000 to go towards medical costs.
