Auction to Finance Christmas Gifts for Sick Kids

Christmas will be a little bit brighter for kids at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

After a morning golf tournament at Green Valley Golf Course, people gathered at The Barn on Linden Avenue for a silent and live auction.

Organizer Kelly Beem said the money raised will buy Christmas presents for every child staying at the hospital.

"It’s been a positive support for us," said Beem, "I think we had a lot of people show up, to support the kids. Everyone knows what it’s about."

Aaron Lynch is a patient at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

He held up the auction items as people placed their bids.

Event sponsor Jim Buchbinder said giving back to the community is important to his company.

"The community of Zanesville has a very big heart,"  said Buchbinder.  "They’ve always supported Kelly and Randy and all of their causes and for Economy Linen to be able to be a part of this, to be a part of the community to support this community, the kids that go to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, it was a wonderful thing."

One of the items on the auction block was an Ohio State football autographed by Earle Bruce, John Cooper, Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer that sold for $1,100.
