August Job Report: “Zero”
New data released shows employment growth was non-existent for the month of August.
Despite the lack of employment growth, the jobless rate stayed at 9.1% for the month. Congressman Bob Gibbs believes the country never fully recovered form the recession and fears we’re backsliding.
"People need to be able to have an opportunity and a job," said Gibbs. " It’s just frustrates me to no end when I see somebody who wants to work and no job. That’s just so frustrating."
The Labor Department reports payrolls were also unchanged. The weakest report in almost a year. It was the first time since 1945 that the government has reported a net monthly job change of zero.
"Businesses want to grow but their not going to risk capital when they don’t know the futures uncertain," said Gibbs.
President Obama will address a new jobs plan to the nation next Thursday.
