Avondale Youth Center Carnival

For the small price of a cash donation at a carnival this weekend, Avondale Youth Center members could have the opportunity to live a better life.

This Friday and Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm an event for everyone is being held so the young and old can ride rides or pick from a wide variety of items to take home and make their own. “We’re having a giant yard sale, one of the parents decided to put this on and local businesses and individuals have donated all kinds of items, there’s going to be raffles, a Leslie cope painting that’s been donated. Out front there are going to be carnival rides and some games for kids, a little bit of everything, its going to be a really full day with a lot of opportunities for people to take home some great stuff for donations.” Says Public Information Officer for Muskingum County Child Services Gary King.

At one point organizers didn’t think they would have enough donations for the event, they’re now dealing with a welcomed overflow for the carnival. A cash donation for every item purchased will benefit the Avondale Youth Fund and the kids in more ways than one. “its going to help the kids live a more normal life while they’re here its going to give them a more normal experience. I’m talking about school projects, sometimes we don’t have money for those types of things, Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, maybe looking at some tutoring- we do those types of things with the fund.” Says Director Nate Norris.

This is the first time the center has held an event like this and they’re hoping to make it bigger and better in years to come. The Avondale Youth Center is located off of State Route 93 in Avondale.
