Babubhai “Bob” Patel

Babubhai “Bob” Joitaram Patel, 75, of Zanesville died at 5:33 PM Monday, January 5, 2026, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

He was born on Thursday, June 1, 1950, in Nardipur, Gujarat, India the son of Joitaram Patel and Santokben Patel.

Babubhai “Bob” Patel was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa who found joy in music, food, and dancing. Also, he loved to help people, which gave him a reputation of a caring and hardworking man. In India in his early life, he got his bachelor’s degree and used that degree to be a teacher. After 20 years in India being a high school teacher he came to the US and started his first business which was a Dunkin Donuts. Then he changed businesses and started a second business of a convenience store in Cincinnati for 2 years until moving to Zanesville for the rest of his life.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Taraben, 6 daughters Sangitaben P. (Prakashkumar K.) Patel, Roma (Sureshkumar B.) Patel, Parul (Rakeshkumar C.) Patel, Anita (Mukeshkumar R.) Patel, Gayatri (Ashokkumar “AJ”) Patel, Beena (Dhavalkumar B.) Limbachiya; 14 grandkids; and a sister, Dhaniben B. Patel.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joitabhai M. Patel and Santokben J. Patel; a sister, Manguben J. Patel; and three brothers, Parshottambhai J. Patel, Manibhai J. Patel and Amaratbhai J. Patel.

Funeral service with Hindu Ritual will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Rd N, Pickerington, Ohio 43147, with Dinesh B. Upadhayay officiating.
