ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project has named two artists of the month at their Gallery.

Bill Baker III and Robert Stonerock are local artists with very different art styles.

Baker enjoys depicting nature scenes, birds, as well as lighthouses in his paintings, while Stonerock pulls more from his Pennsylvania-Dutch heritage.

“My art style is Pennsylvania-Dutch Barn stars and anything Pennsylvania-Dutch.” Stonerock said. “I usually collect or I paint it, it’s from Eastern Pennsylvania, it’s where I got a lot of ideas from and a lot of my ancestors are Eastern Pennsylvania-Dutch so I naturally had an attraction to it.”

Stonerock says the barn stars follow geometric patterns, for the most part, and are done with just four colors.

He says they are signs of good fortune, fertility, as well as positivity.

Stonerock also shared what it meant to him to be named one of the Artists of the month.

“It’s quite an honor, there’s a lot of talented artists in this association, so this feels great.” Stonerock said.

Stonerock and Baker’s work will be on display from 5 to 8PM at the ZAAP Gallery located at 625 Main Street in Zanesville.
