Balderson Wins Again in 12th District

A Congressman from Zanesville, who was backed by President Donald Trump and Governor John Kasich, a Trump critic, has won his rematch, retaining a coveted open house seat for republicans. Voters on Tuesday picked U.S, Representative Troy Balderson over democratic Franklin County Recorder Danny O’Connor, for the second time since August. That means he will serve the next full term representing the 12 district formerly held by republican ex U.S. Representative Pat Tiberi, who retired in January. Balderson’s close victory came as republicans were concerned about how Trump is playing in swing states. O’Connor was considered a long shot in the district held by republicans for nearly 35 years.
