ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A ribbon cutting was held at the Colony Square Mall today to officially recognize the relocation and growth of a blossoming business.

Balloons and Blooms Owner Dawn Haren practically grew up in a flower shop and has been crafting balloons for years. She shared how her business began from the desire of local businesses looking to add a festive decorative flare to their events.

“I grew up in a really creative household. My mother was the most creative person I knew. She was actually a florist, so I grew up around flowers my whole life. And I thought I would start just doing flowers but then the balloon side came about and it really took off here in Zanesville. So it kind of put the flowers on the back burner. But now that I have a retail, physical space, I now can have both,” Haren said.

The business began nearly 5-years-ago in her home. Shrivers Hospice Foundation, Lepi and Associates and the Colony Square Mall are some of her biggest clients and as word of mouth spread and clientele grew, so has the scope of her business.

“So I decorate for events and special occasions,” Haren said. “I make big balloon garlands. You probably see them everywhere and I decorate for events with florals also. It’s just an array of different celebrations that I get to do. Which… So I never get bored because I’m always doing something different.”

Haren says baby showers and first birthdays are very popular and very fun. Balloons and Blooms has their own website as well as a social media presence across multiple platforms.

The entrance to Balloons and Blooms is between Five Below and JC Penney and is not accessible from inside of the mall.
