Barbara A. Winters (October 11, 1934 – May 24, 2012)

Barbara Winters, 77 of Zanesville, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital After a lengthy illness.
She was born October 11, 1934 in Corapolis, PA to the late F. William Scharff and Emma Wobb Scharff. Barbara worked in the Probate Court at the Morgan County Court House for 6 years with Judge William Safranek; the Warren IGA as a cashier for 9 years, Kate Loves Simpson Library for 1 ½ years and the Longaberger Garden Store in Dresden for 1 year. She also volunteered at Bethesda Hospital as a transporter for 2 ½ years and with Hospice for 2 years. She was a proud member for the “Classical Ladies†Red Hat Group in Zanesville and attended North Terrace Church of Christ.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Kim A. Riley of Lancaster, Ohio; Sons Roy E. (Shawna) Winters III of Monroe, North Carolina and Fred W. (Christina) Winters of Zanesville, Ohio. 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren; sisters: Thyra M. DeMarco of Russell, Kansas and Emma Jean Bishop of South Bend, Indiana.
In addition to her parents Barbra is preceded in death by her husband Roy E. Winters who died April 29, 2001, brother Fred A. Scharff, and George W. Scharff. Sisteres Edythe M. Merritt, Helen M. Messmer, Margaret J. Mackins and Dorothea L. Majetic.
The family is being served by the BRYAN & SNIDER FUNERAL HOME 2318 Maple Ave. where friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Rev. William Meaige will conduct funeral service on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11 AM, at the Funeral Home, visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Malta Union Cemetery.
