Barbara Wilson

Barbara Wilson, age 89, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18 at Genesis Hospital.

Barbara was born on April 2, 1936 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Raymond and Naomi Patterson. She was a proud graduate of Lash High School, Class of 1954.

Barbara married the love of her life, Paul Wilson, in 1957 with whom she raised two children – Jodi Wilson Dickson and Randy Wilson. Earlier in life, Barbara worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for JCPenney and Brockway Glass. She later chose to step away from her career to dedicate herself fully to raising her family. She later returned to work retiring from Zanesville Travel Lodge as a desk clerk.

Barbara had a lifelong love of dance. She was especially proud to have been part of Marjorie Holzschuer Sellers’ very first baby ballet class at the age of three, continuing with group and solo dance classes in the same studio through her early adulthood. She generously volunteered her time helping with dance recitals for many years. Later in life, she found great joy in square dancing, particularly at the senior center. She was affectionately known as the “President of the Dancing Divas’ Fan Club.”

Barbara was a member of First Christian Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, where she formed lasting friendships. In quieter moments, she loved to read and could often be found with a good book in hand.

Barbara is survived by her children Jodi Wilson Dickson and Randy Wilson (Lisa); grandchildren Derek Dickson (Camille), Devin Dickson, Max Wilson, and Miles Wilson; and great grandchildren Isla Dickson and Amelia Dickson.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Paul Wilson; aunts Rosalie Patterson and Gertrude Beall; her dear friend Leland Nethers; her beloved granddaughter Morgan Wilson; and her son-in-law Jim Dickson.

Barbara will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
