Barry Stewart

Barry L. Stewart, 89, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday (September 28, 2024) at his home.
He was born October 17, 1934 in Newark NJ, son of the late Everett S. Stewart and Emma C. (Ciliberti) Stewart.
A graduate of Plainfield High School and Seton Hall University, Barry worked as a mechanical engineer and designer for Koch Engineering for many years. He had also worked locally for Sears, Holiday Inn, and Colgate Palmolive.
Barry was a US Army veteran.
He was a member of Christ Our Light Parish – St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, where he served communion for many years.
He was an old car enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joan.
Barry is survived by his wife, Joan Elizabeth (Haver) Stewart, whom he married June 15, 1957; his son, Kenneth Stewart (& his wife, Deb) and their children, Adrianne Weisberg (& her husband, Rich) and Joel Chambers (& Shawn); his daughter, Laura Stewart-Wagner (& her husband, Neil); his daughter, Kelly Weirich and her child, William Hapersberger (& Makayla); his son, Barry Stewart (& his wife, Tish) and their children, Preston, William, and Carter; four great-grandchildren, Catlyn, Elizabeth, Chloe, and Avery; and his cat, Dusty.
Memorial visitation hours will be held Saturday (October 12, 2024) from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where a memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
Burial will be at the Cokesbury Baptist Church Cemetery in New Jersey at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Barry’s name to either a local food bank of your choice or to Hospice of Guernsey Inc. (PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725).
