Benches were installed at Dogzville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Riverside Dogzville Park became a little more comfortable for dog owners.
Dogzville issued a thank you message on their Facebook page in November 2017 to all the supporters who helped purchase and install eight new benches. Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics Director, David Mitzel takes his own dog often and is appreciative that the benches were installed.
“There was a need for benches to be placed,” Mitzel said. “There are a lot of people who come in here, their dogs are younger than they are and so they want to find a place to sit down. They had to bring in the folding chairs and you’d stick them on the ground and they sometimes go into the ground that didn’t work very well for a lot of people.”
Dogzville Committee President, Mike Alfman said from setting up the fencing, creating the walking paths, hooking up water, planting trees, to now having benches. It’s taken about one year to make the dog park what it is today.

“It’s just been great since the [City of Zanesville] started this project with the land,” Alfman said. “We’ve had so many contractors and businesses come forward to help transition to where we are today. There are so many people coming down here. If you haven’t brought your dog down, you should bring them down. Take a look at the rules as you come in, acquaint yourself with it. It’s three acres of fun.”
The volunteers of Dogzville thanked Adams Brothers Concrete Products for supplying concrete, Kim Glass Contracting Inc. for pouring the concrete, contractor Bill Thomas and his men for installing the benches, and all who sponsored the benches to be purchased.
According to Alfman Dogzville volunteers are not finished adding to the Dog park’s experience. The volunteers have more planned for the coming spring season to keep Dogzville a nice park to visit.
“People have come down and realized how great [Dogzville] is and how much fun it is to come down here and let your dog get exercise, but also you get to come down and socialize with your neighbors and friends who also have dogs, said Alfman.”
