Bernard Sizemore

Bernard Ray Sizemore, 71, died February 26, 2025, at his home in Crooksville, Ohio.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 -3:00 p.m. Saturday March 1, 2025 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage. He was born February 18, 1954, in Montgomery, West Virginia to Bill and Opal Sizemore.
Bernard was known to his family and friends as Ray or Pappy. In recent years his family was his life and spent most of his time enjoying life with his wife Ellen Sizemore and his four step children and grandchildren. To them he will always be known as the fun loving guy who would do anything to make them smile.
Ray spent the majority of this life serving our Country. His service included fighting in the Vietnam War and the War in Iraq. He initially served in the United States Marine Corp for 30 years from 1973-2003. He received a rare and special honor by being knighted by Diane, Princess of Wales, for his exceptional service and achievements becoming attached to the England Royal Marines. Some of his decorations, medals, badges, citations include the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Appreciation Letters and Certificates, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; MC Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment and Overseas service Ribbons, Meritorious Unit and Navy Commendation Medal. After serving in all of that and then decided to serve again as a contracted security personnel from 2008-2015 in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and Kuwait, and other undisclosed locations.
Ray was is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Sizemore; brothers, Austin Sizemore (Joyce), Henry Sizemore (Sandy), Mitchell Sizemore (Kathy); daughter, Amanda Sizemore-Kees; step daughters, Misty Dillon (Bryan), Christie Queen (Gary), Heidi Milner (Chad); step son, Michael Queen (Misty); 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Opal Sizemore; brothers Billy Sizemore, Jerry Sizemore, Hayden (Skip) Sizemore; sisters, Rose Jones, Margaret Belaire; and his grandson, Jake Bush.
