Better Business Bureau visits Zanesville

Zanesville, Ohio-  A Representative from the Better Business Bureau visited Zanesville today.

President and General Manager of the Central Ohio Better Business Bureau Kip Morse describes the role the non-profit organization plays for serving the local community.

“We evaluate businesses based on standards and provide that information free to the public, and we’ve got people that are working everyday to take phone calls and answer questions and protect consumers from scams and really trying to help them through situations they might find themselves in.”

Morse notes of one scam happening right now in the palm of your hand.

“People are starting to get phone calls saying can you hear me and then all of a sudden the question is what are they going to do with it when you say yes. They are recording something or if you say yes they are transferring you over to someone that’s going to try to work you through some sort of a vacation scam or some sort of additional scam.”

Morse warns the public to always stay alert of scammers trying to reach into your pocket.
