Betty L. Gibbs, 93, of Deavertown, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at her homeplace with her daughter and caregiver, Lori, by her side. Born on April 15, 1931, in Rosefarm, she was a daughter to the late Jess and Elizabeth (Strohl) Wheeler. She married the love of her life, Harry Gibbs, on June 14, 1949, in Russell, KY. Their union was blessed with profound love and companionship until Harry’s passing on September 10, 2020. Together, they raised a family that grew to include a loving daughter, Lori (Terry) Swackhammer, cherished grandchildren Daniel (Beverly Southall) Gibbs, Angela (John) Post, Megan Wilson, and six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Betty’s legacy of love also extends to her daughter-in-law, Susie Gibbs and brother, Norman Wheeler. Betty’s involvement with the Ebenezer Country Church and the Eastern Star Starlight Chapter 239 was a testament to her commitment to her faith and community but weren’t the only activities she loved. A talented and passionate author, Betty found pleasure and peace in writing poetry. Her skill as a freelance writer was recognized internationally, with her work published in over 24 countries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Elizabeth (Strohl) Wheeler, her beloved husband, Harry Gibbs, her dear son, Harry Daniel Gibbs, and her precious grandchildren, Christopher Piccone and Ashley Piccone; siblings, Jess Wheeler, Elsie Mcpherson, Marjorie Monahan, Mary Braglin, Helen Kudyba and Virginia Bell, also preceded her in death. Calling hours will be held Monday January 20, 2025, from 10:00am – 1:00pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will begin at 1pm with Pastor Eric Waltemire officiating.
