Betty Marie (Ford) Harsch (February 11, 1925 – December 8, 2011)
Betty Marie (Ford) Harsch, 86, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on Dec. 8, 2011 in her home. She was born February 11, 1925, in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of Robert and Beulah (Bell) Ford.
Betty grew up in Zanesville and worked during high school at the downtown Penney’s through the DECA Program until her graduation from Lash High School in 1943. She then worked at Ohio Bell as a telephone operator. Later, after her marriage in 1946 to Paul Harsch, she assisted at their Y-City Office Supply store.
Betty was active at various times in the Muscoryan Club, the Seventeen Euchre Club, Riverside Grange, Eastern Star, Soroptomists, Y-City Women, Senior Bethesda League, Rotaryanns, First Methodist Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Philo. She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work at Genesis for 50 years, and liked to crochet and knit and give her creations as gifts to friends. An overall sports fan, she was devoted to her Cincinnati Reds. Her great hobby, though, was remembering people with birthday and anniversary cards.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Paul who died on Feb. 13, 2004. Her daughters Paula and Beth survive.
A dignified cremation has taken place. Visitation with family will take place on Tuesday December 13th from 4 to 7 P.M. with a memorial service immediately following at Hillis and Hardwick Funeral Home. Frank Clifton will officiate. A private graveside service will take place at a later date at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum Library System or the charity of the donors choice.
