Betty Palmer

Betty M. (Heimberger) Palmer, 91, of Gratiot, died Friday evening, February 20, 2026, at Genesis Hospice – Morrison House in Zanesville.
Born May 17, 1934, in Kirkersville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Mary (Ford) Heimberger and was a 1952 graduate of Hopewell High School. Betty worked as a consultant at The Longaberger Company and retired from Harts Family Center. She was faithful member of the Gratiot United Methodist Church, Esther Circle, and Brownsville Chapter 486, Order of Eastern Star. Betty enjoyed attending the Brownsville Senior Center, quilting, sewing, gardening, canning and baking.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Spring of Roseville, Carolyn Vensil and her husband, Carl of Nashport and Lois Orr and her husband, Ray of Newark; twelve grandchildren, Stacy (Matt) Juergens, Amy (Jason) Craig, Melissa (Ryan) Leas, Christopher (Stacy) Orr, Jason (Jami) Spring, Carrie (Terry) Swartz, Julie (Joe) Bice, Jeffrey (Mary) Orr, Katie (Tucker) Hall, Jonathan (Alexzandria) Spring, Seth (Leah) Vensil and Darrin (Lauren) Vensil; twenty six great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren and two on the way; a sister, June Lones; two sisters-in-law, Ann Heimberger and Mary King; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Palmer, whom she married November 2, 1952 and who died April 15, 2016; a brother, Robert “Bob” Heimberger; a brother and his wife, Vernon and Neola Heimberger; a brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Lones; and two nephews Doug Lones and Paul Heimberger.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Keisha, Rachel, Jeremy, Courtney and the staff at Genesis Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Betty.
Family and friends may visit Friday, February 27, 2026, from 11:00am till the time of the service at 1:00pm, at the Gratiot United Methodist Church, 345 South Street, Gratiot. Chaplain Tim Patton will officiate.
Betty will be laid to rest, next to her husband, Bernard, at Poplar Fork Cemetery in Gratiot.
