Bid opening held for new water line project

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â Steps have been taken to begin a new water line project that will benefit the west side of the county.
The Muskingum County Commissioners held opening bids Thursday afternoon for a water line project that will be constructed between Richey Road and Maple Avenue.
Don Madden said it will include the Old Falls Road area, the Dunzweiler Drive area and out to the western edge of the county into the Gratiot area.
The highest bid made Thursday was $202,463 and the lowest was $108,797. References provided by the firms are taking into consideration when making a decision.
“The engineer will take these back to their facility and review the bids especially with the apparent low bidder and the engineer will make a recommendation to the commissioners as to which firm should be awarded the contract,” said Madden.
The water line will follow Northpointe Drive and is planned to bring service to the western part of Muskingum County.
Madden said it will take about a week to 10 days for the engineer to review the bids and make a recommendation.
