Bidding for Purses

Local women are bidding up a storm tonight.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross held its "Power of the Purse" Auction. It was a sold-out event. The women had a lot to choose from…more than 100 purses with incentives.

"You have a room full of 300 ladies. There’s always a great time, " says Marlene Henderson of the Red Cross.

Some women came with a strategy when it came to bidding.

"Make sure you hold it way high and wave it…(laughs), " says attendee Tamara Smithcombs.

Others took notes on which purses they had their eyes on.

While it may have been a fun night, every purse contained a message. It will help a family in our community. Proceeds of the event go directly to the Red Cross’ Disaster Relief Fund.
