Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville expand their operations

ZANESVILLE, OH- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville is excited to announce that they will be expanding their services to Coshocton County.
Their Lunch Buddies program will also be coming to Bishop Fenwick Elementary School. This program is a free mentorship initiative that pairs students with pre-screened adults or high school students who meet regularly during lunch at school from October to April.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville, as well as our national mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth and in the local communities that we serve here of course across South Eastern Ohio, and it’s really important because kids nowadays are going through so many different struggles, so many different challenges and it’s really important for them to have that extra interaction with somebody that cares about them, a positive interaction to help their self-esteem, potentially work through an issue and give them extra support in any way,” said Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville Executive Director, Katie Lupsor.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in positive conversations, games and crafts with a role model.
“I’m a mentor myself, and so I have a little, I have a community based little and then I also will be a lunch buddy this year again, I just personally see a change, specifically in the Lunch Buddies program, in a child over the course of the school year, they get really excited about their special day to have lunch with their mentor, they share, they engage, they make better eye contact is the improvement I’ve seen, just really getting to know them a lot better, and getting them comfortable,” said Lupsor.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is currently in their enrollment period for the Lunch Buddies program. To find out more information and become involved as a mentor, or to get your child involved visit BBBSZ.org or call 740-453-7300.
