ZANESVILLE, Ohio- March 4th is Employee Appreciation Day and one local school put a spin on this day to get kids thinking about their future.

Bishop Fenwick Student Council used Friday as a day for students to start thinking about what they want to be when they grow up.

“We wanted to do something for Employee Appreciation Day. And our first thought was dressing up as what you want to be when you grow up. So that you can express yourself. We all decided that was a good idea. We think it’s important to show who you want to be and who you are,” said Student Council President Lily Mclaughlin.

“Just dressing up. Expressing yourself. You’ve seen a lumberjack and farmers,” said Student Council Vice President Maggie Huttson.

Teachers were able to assign a part of the day to have their students talk about their careers and why they chose them.

“I think this is a great activity. It puts a little bit of realism into it. It gets them thinking about the possibilities. And at this age it’s the most important thing. I think it’s never too early to think about it and to realize the possibilities,” said Social Studies Teacher Dave Eppley.

Friday was not only a fun dress up day it was a day of learning. Bishop Fenwick Student Council looks forward to continuing this tradition for many more years to come.
