Black Friday Animal Shelter Society sale

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Animal Shelter Society joined in on the Black Friday discounts by giving animal lovers a special treat.

The Animal Shelter Society had a Black Friday sale on all black cats and dogs. The shelter’s doors open at 10 A.M. to people looking to add a new member to their family. All black dogs were half off, cats were $10 and rabbits were just $5. The low prices provided a good turn out.

“We had people waiting in their car at 9 O’Clock, waiting for an hour before we even opened the doors. 10 minutes before we opened we had people in line at our door,” said Animal Shelter Society’s Veterinarian Technician Lyndsey Desender.

The shelter has a large number of black animals partially due to black animals take longer to get adopted.

“I think it is a really great cause. Black animals usually don’t get adopted that quickly, like black cats, because people think they’re like not good. I think it’s great and I’ve seen a lot of the special needs animals being looked at as well so it’s really great,” said Desender.

Everyone who adopted an animal between 10 A.M. and Noon got a free I.D. tag and a 2018 calendar.
