Block Party for the Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church
National back to church Sunday may be Sunday, but the Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church had people to come out Saturday.
The church hosted a block party between four and seven Saturday afternoon to encourage the community to come out and join them in fellowship. Pastor Matthew Blau said having the block party is their way of bringing the community together.
"Our mission of the church is to connect our community and our people to Jesus Christ, and this is our first chance to connect to the community," Pastor Matt said.
Pastor Matt, as he likes to be called, said the block party was open to anyone who wanted to come out. The main goal was to get out and show the community that the church wants to be apart of their life. One way the church is doing this is by taking part in the national back to church Sunday.
"Back to church Sunday is tomorrow, so that’s what back to church Sunday is about," Pastor Matt said. "We just want people to come back to church."
The church took the block party as a chance to educate the community about everything that it does to support the local scouts and share about the other programs it offers like its "Club Jesus Fellowship." this is a special service offered on Sunday nights in which after the service a free meal is provided.
