Board Of Elections Certifies Candidates For May 5th
Muskingum County Board of Election members met this week to certify candidates and issues that will be placed on the May 5th ballot.
Of the 20 candidates to be placed on the ballot, 19 were certified. One council at large member was not and was notified by mail.
“There will be one contested race, and it is in the republican ballot and it is the law director,” said Muskingum County Board of Elections Director, Chris Hamill. “So if you’re wanting to request an application it would be just the Republican ballot so it would be in the city. So if you would contact us and live in the city you would either get a Republican ballot or issues only.”
The contested race will be for City Law Director. Zanesville City Councilman and Attorney, David Tarbert is facing Zanesville Attorney, Derric Moorehead. There will also be four issues placed on the ballot.
“We do have four issues to be placed on the ballot,” said Hamill. “That would be the Village of Philo, Village of Dresden, the Jackson Township, and the Muskingum Community Senior Center.”
You must be a registered voter by April 6th to vote in the primary election. If you are planning to vote absentee you can visit the Board of Elections Office starting April the 7th to fill out an absentee application.
