Bonnie Sorensen

Bonnie Ann (Elswick) Sorensen, 85, of Byesville, passed away Saturday (November 29, 2025) at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center, Cambridge.

She was born July 26, 1940 in Mammoth WV, daughter of the late Homer Elswick and Zeltia (Coleman) Elswick.

Bonnie had worked for over twenty years at MTD of Cleveland.

A devoted homemaker, Bonnie loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her animals dearly and enjoyed shopping.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by a daughter, Shawn K. Stevens; her brothers, Frank, Joe, Jackie, and Paul Allen Elwsick and an infant brother; her sisters, Wava and Hazel Lou; and two sons-in-law, Mark Stevens and Tom Scaggs.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Ricki Baxter of Senecaville; her daughter, Erin M. Scaggs of Stow; a sister, Doris Shamblin of Mammoth WV; three grandchildren, Jenessa Eller, Robyn Kaselak, and Audrey Prendergast; five great-grandchildren, Ernesto, Zeltia, Alexzandore, Zavier, and Zaria; and her long-time companion, Ben Stiles of Byesville.

Private services will be held for the family with entombment to follow at Northwood Cemetery’s Mausoleum, Cambridge. Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, is handling arrangements.
