Bonnie Vinsel

Bonnie Mae Vinsel, 100, of Zanesville, died Monday afternoon, August 17, 2026, at Helen Purcell Home.
Born January 25, 1926, the only child of the late Fred and Anna (Hobbs) Atkinson. Bonnie graduated from New Concord High School and Ohio University. She taught at Jack and Jill Preschool and in the West Muskingum School District for several years where she was a recipient of the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Grant for education. She was a life member of State Teachers Association and Muskingum County Retired Teachers. Bonnie was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a Red Cross volunteer at Bethesda Hospital for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf with her husband and their friends.
Surviving is her son, Judge Jay (Samantha) Vinsel of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Michael (Barbara) Vinsel, Kerry (James) Hazen, Katie (Jeff) Mather, Kristina (Brian) White, Scott Vinsel, Hunter (Kelsey) Vinsel, Anna Witte; fifteen great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Vinsel.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband Bryce A. Vinsel, who died February 2, 2014; and her son, Douglas Vinsel.
The family would like to give a warm thank you to all the residents and staff at Helen Purcell Home for making the last five years some of the happiest of Bonnie’s life.

A private family graveside will be held.
Bonnie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bryce, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
