Say Boo to Hunger at Colony Square Mall

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Colony Square Mall and Muskingum Hunger Network will be partnering up to Say Boo to Hunger.

On Halloween night you can bring a non-perishable food item and trick or treat at the mall. The food item isn’t required, but it’s recommended. This event is a way for families to have a safe place to trick or treat.

“Kids come in costume from 6 to 7. The retailers will be out in front of their stores with candy to trick or treat. It’s a nice safe, warm environment,”said Special Leasing and Marketing Representative for the Colony Square Mall Kevin Pinson.

The Colony Square Malls combining trick or treat with bringing a nonperishable item allows kids to get their fill of candy as well as help out families in need.

“We’ve had trick or treat out here since the mall opened over 30 years ago. A few years ago we decided to partner with the Muskingum Hunger Network and start asking our trick or treaters to bring in non-perishable food items to donate as they trick or treat so we can help will the local pantries,” said Pinson.

Last year, the mall collected enough food to fill the back of a pickup truck. This year they hope to collect even more. Say Boo to Hunger will be on October 31st from 6-7 p.m.
