Breakfast to Celebrate Hometown Heroes
The nominations are in, and this Friday, 24 people will be honored for serving their communities.
The Hometown Heroes Breakfast celebrates those who go above and beyond their ordinary duties to help others. Red Cross Development Director Troy Alford said a selection committee reviewed more than 50 applications to choose heroes for 13 categories.
"Our Muskingum County hero this year is Jennifer Miller, and she has fostered over 50 kids," said Alford. "Her career has been spent being a foster parent, and right now she has 10 kids living with her."
Each hero will be displayed on a billboard in his or her county. Alford said the breakfast is an excellent opportunity to meet the heroes.
"It’s a good lesson for the little ones to see that if you do something nice, something nice could happen to you," said Alford.
The breakfast will be held at North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville on Friday. Doors open at 7 AM, and tickets cost $15. You can call (740) 452-2731 to reserve your seat.
