BREAKING: Explosions at Brussels Airport, Several Killed

UPDATE 8:00 A.M.

A Belgian Federal Prosecutor said one of the terror attacks in Brussels Tuesday was probably the work of a suicide bomber. The attacks at the airport and the subway left many dead. A subway official said a blast there killed at least 15 and officials say fatalities occurred at both scenes. Belgian Prime Minister, Charles Michel, said authorities are worried there will be more attacks. Brussels has been locked down.

UPDATE 7:35 A.M.

Explosions ripped through Brussels International Airport and Subway system Tuesday during the morning rush hour as hundreds of passengers were trying to check in.

The airport and subway blasts have prompted a city-wide lockdown after at least 31 people were killed in what officials say are terror attacks. Many injuries are reported. A passenger just arriving at the airport described a scene with "Blood everywhere, injured people, bags everywhere."

European security officials have been braced for a major attack for weeks, and warned that Islamic State was actively preparing. Passengers were led onto the tarmac and the Crisis Center urged people not to come to the airport.

The explosions happened only days after the prime suspect in the November Paris attacks was arrested in Brussels. We’ll bring you more on this story as it becomes available.
