Brian T. Wagner Community Leadership Award

One local man is being recognized for his great impact on the community of Zanesville.

Jody Spencer of Zanesville is receiving the Brian T. Wagner Community Leadership Award presented by the Muskingum County Community Foundation.  Employed as Vice President and Trust Officer at Century National Bank, Spencer has a long record of volunteer leadership in numerous organizations.  He is the 9th recipient of the Wagner award.

"I have seen the other recipients receive their awards but never once thought I was qualified or deserved the award, so I was very pleased that my peers in the community voted to award me this," said Spencer.

Along with his other list of accomplishments, Spencer currently serves on the United Way Investment Committee, the City of Zanesville Incentive Tax Review Council, and as a Board Member at Westwood Baptist Church. He says helping the community is something he learned at a very early age.

"I think it was just instilled within me from my parents. It’s just who I am, it’s to help other people, and to have a positive impact on other people’s lives is really what it’s all about," said Spencer. 

Spencer will receive his award at the Muskingum County Community Foundation’s Groundhog Day Auction on January 28th.
