ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Two local businesses have found new homes at Buchanan Square in Zanesville and celebrated with ribbon cutting ceremonies on Tuesday.

The Rustic Route and Valerie Ann’s Boutique have relocated from the Freight Shops on Market Street to Maple Avenue where they are already seeing the benefits of their new home.

“So Buchanan Square I’ve looked at for many years and it was just an opportunity for me to be able to be in what I call my little Hallmark village,” said Valerie Gutridge, owner of Valerie Ann’s Boutique. “People coming up and down Maple like they do, and with my boutique sign out on the side of the building they’ve noticed. And I’ve gotten traffic that I didn’t necessarily have before.”

Valerie Ann’s Boutique sells women’s and girl’s boutique clothing while also housing Vintage Charm and Glitter which serves as a rentable tea room and meeting space. The Rustic Route also is a boutique that is gearing up for the holiday season.

“So we do custom pieces, we have themed trees, we do arrangements,” said Julie Abbott, co-owner of Rustic Route.

“We’ll have a lot of specials going on throughout the season. Different activities that we will have posted on our social media. Christmas is a really fun time for Rustic Route. When Christmas is over we do cater more towards everyday home decor but this is the funnest season of the year and we just dive in completely and transform the whole shop into a winter wonderland,” said Danielle Dahmen, co-owner of Rustic Route.
