Buckeyes Lose Three Freshmen 24-Hour Span

The Ohio State Buckeye basketball program remains in a state of turmoil.  In the past 24 hours, three of the five freshmen players from this season will take their talents elsewhere and transfer to a new program.

A.J. Harris, Mickey Mitchell, and Daniel Giddens have all requested transfers from Ohio State.  Only one player, JaQuan Lyle, remains from OSU’s recruiting class from a year ago.

Head coach Thad Matta said the following in a press release: "I have given freshman guard A.J. Harris permission to seek a transfer.  Mickey Mitchell and Daniel Giddens have asked for their release as well.  We appreciate what A.J., Daniel and Mickey did for our program as freshman and we wish them well."

Harris averaged 2.8 points per game after appearing in 35 contests with four starts.  Mitchell appeared in 23 games, mainly as a reserve, averaging 2 points in 12.8 minutes per game. Giddens capped off the year at 3.8 points per game with 3.6 rebounds.
