Building Fire on a Local Golf Course

Fire crews were called to 735 Hopewell Rd. for a building fire that fire crews say could cost a local golf course thousands of dollars in damages.
The call came in around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Lieutenant Andrew Jones with National Trail Fire Department said the fire happened in a maintenance building on Crystal Springs Golf Course.
“When we arrived on scene there was heavy smoke showing, some flames showing. Â Not real sure of what started it, no one was around. As soon as we got here and got everything hooked up, the owner showed up and told us what was in the building. We were going against the chemicals and visibility. The building was pretty much fully engulfed but, you just couldn’t see on the inside,” said Lieutenant Jones.
Along with National Trails Fire Department, emergency crews from Falls Fire Department and Zanesville Fire Department were on the scene with three to four engines from each department. But, Jones said the building may not be able to be saved.
“I’m going to say a total loss, just because, of how severe it was. When we got here we had no idea how severe it was when there was heavy smoke showing. But, there was no flame. Once we got into the fire the whole building was engulfed,” said Lieutenant Jones.
No injuries were reported in connection to the blaze. The incident remains under investigation.
