Burning Man Case Now Homicide

Zanesville Police say a weekend incident that involved a man on fire in downtown Zanesville has turned into a homicide investigation. Detective Sergeant Harry Taylor says an autopsy that was performed at the Licking County Coroner’s Office indicated the man died from blunt force trauma. On Saturday night just before 10:30 police were called to Central Presbyterian Church at 40 North 6th Street to investigate a person on fire. First responders found the victim on the side porch of the church engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished and the 62-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police will only says he a local homeless male. Anyone with information on the incident are asked to call Zanesville Police at (740) 455-0700
