Businesses Must File Corporate Transparency Act by March 21st

ZANESVILLE, OH – There has been some rapid developments for businesses regarding the Corporate Transparency Act.

CTA is a filing system for most businesses that was put into place in 2024. For about the last 5 months, there has been a lot of back and forth on whether businesses need to file or not, but now they’ve come to a decision.

Dana Matz, the President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, said businesses have until March 21st to file their CTA.

“Make sure you go to the proper government website because there are many companies out there offering services to charge you to do that,” Matz said. “If you’re a local business and you’re not sure how to do it, please talk to your accountant, your business attorney, maybe even your banker.”

Matz said if businesses fail to file by the March 21st deadline then there could be fines and other repercussions.

He also said the CTA is in place to catch fake businesses impersonating legitimate ones.

“There is an asterisk to this,” Matz said. “Where it says ‘not all businesses have to apply’, I would say it differently. I would say that most businesses have to go through the filing, but if the business is not sure, please talk to your accountant.”
