C.A.S.S.M.I.N.D. Academy Hosts 10th Year of Annual 5k and Open House

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – C.A.S.S.M.I.N.D. Academy hosted their annual 5k Run and Open House today.
The 5k and the Academy were both created by the late Cassandra McDonald.
It started in 2012, and is an effort to promote Autism awareness Month, which is April.
Co-Director of the school and son of the founder, Nathan McDonald II says that he hopes this event will do just that.
“Allowing the community a window into our community and our school. And just want to gather all around support, awareness and advocacy in the community for not only our children on the spectrum but adults on the spectrum as well,” McDonald told us.
The proceeds from the event will go towards their annual summer program, so that children can attend for free.
This year’s theme for the summer program is Exploring Ohio’s History.
“We’ll be doing a lot of touring of different parks, different museums, and taverns. And just all around fun with the kids, so we’re really excited about this project for this summer and the top and want everyone to come out and bring your kids,” he also stated.
The summer program is open for students in all 6 neighboring counties.
McDonald says they plan to keep his mothers legacy and vision going with many 5ks in the future.
