Car in the Muskingum River

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A vehicle sank into Muskingum River near South River Rd. in Zanesville.

Wayne Township Fire Department Firefighter, Wesley Kelly said a call came into the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office a little before 3:30 in the afternoon from a woman screaming for help. He said when a deputy arrived the vehicle was sinking into the river. He said the deputy helped the woman and a child out of the river who had already escaped from the vehicle. Kelly said boats, divers, and a wrecker are working to remove the vehicle from the river. Kelly said only minor injuries were reported.
