Carol Joan Hatfield, 91 of Zanesville, died at 8:55 PM Friday, December 13, 2024 at the The Helen Purcell Home following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born February 14, 1933 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of John Henry Wheeler and Bessie Frances Geyer Wheeler.

Joan was a homemaker who took pride in her home, enjoyed gardening and taking long rides in the country with her husband & dog “Daisey”. She was also an active member of Pleasant Grove Church.

She is survived by her husband, whom she has been with for over 71 years, James A. Hatfield; twin daughters, Patsy (Dennis) Rollins and Penny (Brad) Matheney; grandchildren, Ashley (Greg) Sykes, Andy Rollins; Great Grandchildren, Gage Rollins, Fletcher & Paisley Sykes; several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her siblings, Bernard Wheeler, Doris Iden, Julia Reed, & Martha Vogel.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Linda Morrow officiating. Burial will conclude at the St. Paul Cemetery.
