Carol McBee

Carol J. McBee, 76, of Hopewell, passed away quietly and peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 24, 2025, surrounded with love. She was born July 6, 1948, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late James T and Elladean (Kisner) McBee.
A 1966 graduate of Sheridan High School, Carol worked as a secretary for Diamond Power in Lancaster, for 15 years, Bethesda Hospital (Genesis) as a Computer Operator for another 15 years while putting herself through college to become a nurse, and as a nurse for Bethesda Hospital for another 12 years, retiring in 2010.
Carol was a member of the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church, the Monday Night Bible Study Group, and the Mt. Sterling Community Food Pantry. Carol loved to read, travel and crochet.
She is survived by her loving companion of 26 years, Jon Westlake, of the home; her wonderful sister, Lida L. (Jim) McBee-Morris of Pickerington; sister-in-law, Diane C. Davis- Phillips of Ravenna; a very special nephew, Michael Phillips of Pickerington; nephews, Doug (Helen) Phillips of Powhatan, Virginia and Jason (Jason) Phillips of Ravenna; a niece Joyce (Moises) Guzman of Cleveland; special cousin, Patty McBee of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Besides her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her brother Tyrone D. Phillips.
Services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church, 8185 Hopewell National Rd, Zanesville, Ohio 43701, with Jeff Iden officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. A luncheon will be served immediately afterwards in the church basement and a private and loving burial will follow later that afternoon in Mt. Sterling Cemetery. A loving and dignified cremation has taken place.
